What is the difference between Internet and Intranet?

Difference between Internet and Intract are, Internet allows access for anybody from anywhere. But, Intranet is an in-house networking system working on the same principles.

It will not be wrong to say that with the spread of information technology, world has now become a global village. Now, we can access our colleague working in London as quickly as the one who is working in the same building in the cabin next to time. With the spread of information Technology now it is possible to send and receive information alomost instantly from any part of the world.

Difference between Internet and Intract

Internet

It is a Worldwide system. One can approach this system through computers. Information travels at a tremendous speed from one source to another through Internet.

There are no restriction of national or international boundaries for internet usage. Information posted on websites is available to anybody from anywhere in the world at no extra cost. Sometimes, the entry to websites is restricted, it is permitted only to the specified members who are identified by a password. Password is a soft key for entry into protected sites. User may be required to pay fee for the information.

Intranet

Intrenet allows access for anybody from anywhere. But, intranet is an in-house networking system working on the same principles. Network is like a national or international newspaper. Intranet is like an inhouse news magazine, which is for private circulation. The intranet can access through a password to know some information.

Usefulness of Internet and Intranet to their users.

They can:-

• Send or receive letters through e-mail. Every person will have a unique e-mail id which is his address on the net.
• Search, read and download data, files and pictures.
• Exchange letters and discuss with individuals.
• Join discussion group including video conferencing.
• Communicate in real time across long distance in chat.
• Buy and Sell e-Commerce.
